Niagara Falls Picnic AZ

Travel Tips

On this page we will try to give you some travel tips that might help you in planning your trip to Phoenix.

Shop the internet for your best deals on airfare, lodging and rental cars.

When shopping for hotels look for ones that are close to Peoria Sports Complex and University of Phoenix Stadium.  Those venues are both close to where the picnic is held.

You can use map quest to see how far your hotel is from the picnic.

Here are some links to travel sites that might help you out.

RESORTS

There are many fine resorts in the Valley but not too many are close to Rio Vista Park.  The WigWam Resort in Litchfield is probably the closest and is very nice. The Pointe Resort at Tapatio Cliffs is very nice also but is not really close to Rio Vista Park.  The Pointe Squaw Peak would be ok also, since it is close to the State Route 51 freeway and you would have all freeway driving to the picnic.  The Marriot Desert Ridge is another good suggestion; it is very new, very nice and right off the loop 101 and Tatum Blvd.

There are many resorts in Scottsdale but they are a little far from the site of the picnic.  Probably at least 25 - 30 minutes of driving.

Phoenix is a large city and very spread out.  20 - 60 minute drive times are commonplace.  Our freeway system is pretty good and most of these resorts are not far from a freeway and Rio Vista Park is right off of a freeway exit.

So, if you don't mind a little extra driving and would like to treat yourself to some top notch accommodations then click on some of the links below.

AIRLINES

Southwest Airlines has the only non-stop flight from Buffalo to Phoenix and it is a very reasonable airfare when booked at least 2 weeks in advance.  It is a no frills airline to be sure, but it is very nice to be able to fly directly into Phoenix without having a layover in another city.  Trust me, I have made the flight many times in the last 30 years.

However, if you insist on an airline meal, an in-flight movie and don't mind a layover, then check some of the other airlines prices at some of the travel sites we have provided links to on this page or go directly to the airlines sites listed below.
